The Haunted History Hike is a Halloween activity that Wetlands Watchers puts on every year. It is a guided hike through the LaBranche Wetlands. This family friendly event will highlight the rich history and culture of the people who inhabited the LaBranche wetlands. It will include the Native Americans ancestors of the Chitimacha tribe who first lived off the land 3,000 years ago, the ghosts of Iberville and Bienville as they celebrate the tricentennial of their exploration, Jean Lafitte and his Privateers with their piracy and smuggling operations 100 years later, the survivors of the Hurricane of 1915 that destroyed the town of LaBranche and the modern day hunters and fishermen with their spooky folklore of the Loup Garou. People will dress up in historically accurate clothes that represent each time period. While they scare visitors, they will teach the history of the wetlands. Digital Media will create posters for the games children will play, for the food, and for the different activities. We will work with HRT and TV Productions.
