On Tuesday, April 9th, we took a field trip to three different places in New Orleans. We went to Peter Mayer, Pel Hughes Printing, and Gold Rush Signs.
At Peter Mayer, we took a trip of around the advertising agency. We saw what it has, what they made in the agency, and met the workers there too. The names of the workers were Andrea Labbe, Hollin Caire, Dan Tierney, Jesse Delerno, and Ian Rousey. I received a Peter Mayer pen and notepad there as well.
We visited Pel Hughes Printing, a commercial printer and mailer founded in 1954 by Alice Hughes, was devastated by Hurricane Katrina’s floodwaters on August 29, 2005. In the wake of the destruction, they made a commitment to rebuild the company and the enchanting city it calls home. They turned the catastrophic event into an opportunity to transform itself from a traditional commercial printer and mailer into a successful marketing service provider (MSP). Today, Pel Hughes employs more than 65 people and operates out of a 65,000-square-foot facility. We saw how big the place was and they did the management.
At Gold Rush Signs, we were shown how they customized the signs they make. They are real pros at what they do, they have even evolved from painting to vinyl-lettered or printed. A sign they have adapted to the change in technology. They still offer hand painting services, as well as a broad range of services such as vehicle lettering, boat lettering, magnetic signs, sand-blasted signs, and vinyl decals. The whole class took a group photo in front of the Gold Rush Signs shop.
