September 12th, 2018, we meet Lana Stevens and Lisa West of the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA). They are a non-profit organization. Lana Stevens works as a community outreach partner and Lisa West works with hospitals. They are planning a celebration on November 10, 2018 at The First United Methodist Church in Houma for donor families and donor recipient families. They need us to design signs, post cards, banners, and bookmarks. I learned that organ donation can save a lot of lives. One organ donor can save a total of 9 people. One reason there is a shortage of organs for transplant is that only 2% of potential donor's organs can be used. A person must be declared braindead and put on life sustaining equipment until the organs can be procured. If the organs can't be procured, they can't be donated tissues. I felt touched by what they said about their work, donating organs to save lives.
